# 2020 Odyssey Touring — winter tire buy sheet (26 Oct 2026)

## Size is settled: 235/60R18, load index 103 or higher
Honda's own 2020 Odyssey spec sheet lists **all-seasons 235/60R18 103H** and **18-inch wheels** on every trim
including **Touring**; **235/55R19 101H on 19-inch wheels is the Elite only**. So a 2020 Touring does not need
19-inch winter tires, and the door placard should read 235/60R18. If the placard on this van says something else,
the van has aftermarket wheels — check before ordering.

Bolt pattern for the whole 2005-2024 Odyssey is **5x120, centre bore 64.1 mm**; a suitable steel wheel is
**18x7.5, ET40**.

## Installed prices today (set of 4, 235/60R18)
| Tire | Per tire | 4 tires | + mount/balance | Installed, before HST |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Uniroyal Tiger Paw Ice & Snow 4 (103T) — Mr. Memo Auto, Toronto | $263.99 | $1,055.96 | $120 ($30/tire) | **$1,175.96** |
| MotoMaster Winter Edge II — Canadian Tire | ~$275.99 (Calgary quote, Sep 2025) | ~$1,104 | $100-160 ($25-40/tire) | **~$1,204-1,264** + ~$22 tire levy |
| Michelin X-Ice Snow (107T) — Blackcircles.ca | $290.16 | $1,160.64 | ~$120 | **$1,280.64** |
| Michelin X-Ice Snow (107T) — Kaiben Tire | $357.36 | $1,429.44 | ~$120 | **$1,549.44** |

Spread between the same size is **$1,176 to $1,549 installed** — $370 for the same job. The Uniroyal is a
mid-tier winter tire with the correct 103 load index and is the value pick; the X-Ice Snow is the better ice tire
and carries a 60,000 km treadwear warranty. Do not go below 103 load index on an 8-seat van.

## Costco is worth one quote, for a non-price reason
Costco Canada's published terms: **installation is included at no charge with tires bought from a Costco Tire
Centre**, plus a **5-year road hazard warranty** and lifetime rotation/balancing/flat repair, and free delivery to
the chosen warehouse. New tires bought elsewhere cannot be installed there. Appointments go through
costcotireappointments.ca; Mississauga South is (905) 828-3346. If Costco stocks a 235/60R18 winter tire with
103+ load index, the free install plus road hazard effectively beats the $120-160 install charge elsewhere even
at the same tire price.

Canadian Tire 5970 Mavis Rd (905) 813-9855 is the convenience option and never includes installation (~$25-40 per
tire). Book online early — November slots are the bottleneck, not tire stock.

## Rims vs remount — the arithmetic says remount on this van
| | Two changeovers/year, tires on alloy rims (mount + balance each time) | Two changeovers/year on dedicated steel wheels (swap only) |
|---|---|---|
| One-time | $0 | 4 x 18x7.5 5x120 ET40 steel wheels: **~$460 new** (~$115 each) or **~$450 used OEM set** in Scarborough; one mount/balance onto the rims **$120** |
| Per year | $240 ($30/tire x 4 x 2) | $120 ($15/wheel x 4 x 2) |
| 1 season | $240 | $700 — **$460 worse** |
| 3 seasons | $720 | $940 — $220 worse |
| 5 seasons | $1,200 | $1,180 — $20 better |

**Payback is roughly 4.8 years.** On a van that Clutch has already put a $1,260 trade offer against, dedicated
wheels are a losing bet unless the plan is to keep the Odyssey past 2031. Remount, and expect the alloys to pick
up salt/pothole cosmetic damage over a few seasons.

Two caveats that decide it if he ignores the payback:
- A 2020 Odyssey displays **per-wheel pressure and location**, i.e. direct sensors in each wheel. Steel winter
wheels without sensors leave the low-pressure light on for the season and lose the per-wheel readout; budget
**4 sensors (~$55-90 each, or a cloned set)** on top of the wheel price. That pushes payback past 6 years.
- Wheels do not transfer to a new vehicle, and 5x120 is Odyssey/Pilot/Ridgeline only — no resale value to a
  private buyer outside those models.

## Decision
1. **Tires: 235/60R18, load index 103+**, set of four, remounted on the factory alloys.
2. **Book the install the same week the tires are bought.** Mid-November is when every GTA shop books out.
3. **Buy before the first snowfall**, not after — the seasonal price bump on winter rubber lands with the first
forecast, and the Uniroyal at $263.99 is the value line today.
4. Call Costco (905) 828-3346 for a 235/60R18 quote first, because free installation plus road hazard is worth
more than the $120-160 install fee the tire shops charge.
