The ask is $1,500. The arithmetic says don't be talked below $1,300 unless he takes it today and hauls it away himself.
Comparison already established (22 Oct analysis, deliverables/2026-10-22/rogue_repair_vs_sell.md):
- Dealer as-is retail comp: a 2014 Rogue with 251,993 km listed $3,799 at a Scarborough dealer (AutoTrader).
- Private as-is ask set yesterday: $2,300 OBO.
- Clutch's trade-in offer on the Rogue: $1,260.
- A $1,500 private sale beats the trade offer by $240; it is $800 under yesterday's private ask.
So: $1,500 is already the compromise price. Do not open by re-anchoring at $1,800 and lose the buyer — open by confirming his number is $1,500 and that it is cash and gone today.
"If we're at fifteen hundred, I'll do it — cash or e-transfer, and the car's sold as-is with the CVT issue fully disclosed, no safety, no warranty. Two things I need to know: how are you getting it off the driveway, and when?"
Then, in this order:
1. "Is $1,500 your number, or were you thinking less?" Let him talk first at the end.
2. "How are you towing it?" — a buyer with a tow plan is real; one without is a maybe.
3. "Cash or e-transfer? E-transfer clears before the keys move."
4. "The bill of sale will read as-is, transmission defective, sold for parts or repair." (Bill of sale already drafted: deliverables/2026-10-22/rogue_listing_and_bill_of_sale.md.)
5. "I keep the plates — you'll need to arrange your own plate and insurance to move it on the road. If you're towing it, that doesn't matter."
Nothing on my side. The call and the price are Anjal's; the bill of sale and the ad are already drafted.
